DESCRIPTION:BOOKING ESSENTIAL \nJoin a Ranger to complete one of Hardwick’s established butterfly transects which will take you through a variety of habitats with the hopes of seeing and learning about an abundance of butterfly species. \nThis route will be on uneven terrain so appropriate footwear is needed. This walk should take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. \nHot drinks and snacks can be purchased at the beginning and end of the walk. DESCRIPTION:The Armed Forces Day is to celebrate all the Armed Forces over the year’s and to show our thanks for the way they put their lives at risk to keep us safe and protect our country. \n\nThe day starts with a parade\, led by Mansfield District Corps of Drums\, followed by Armed Forces Representatives\, flag bearers\, cadets\, and associated charities. \nFlags are handed to the public to wave as the parade leaves from The Buttercross area\, next to the library on West Gate down to the main event on the Market Place. Please turn up early for your free flag to wave as the Parade passes by. \nThe official opening ceremony follows the parade. This raises the awareness of importance of the armed forces and is given by the Nottinghamshire Armed Forces champion and Mansfield Mayor. The day is an opportunity for the public to engage with many Armed Forces groups and associated charities who have given their time to be present on this important day. Also on display are vintage army vehicles\, a Top Gun flight simulator activity\, free flags & glider planes. There’s live music from a 1940’s trio and Rat Pack singer\, to enjoy throughout the day Groups who have been invited include: Help for Heroes HMS Sherwood Royal Navy Reserves The Royal British Legion Nottinghamshire Army Cadet Force Royal Air Force Grenadier Guards Mercian TA regiment Mansfield Sea Cadets Mansfield TA’s Girl Guide/ Brownie Groups Stroll around the food & craft market with 40 stalls and enjoy lots of things to see and do. \nPlease support the armed forces and enjoy a FREE fun day out in the Mansfield town centre. This event is organised by Mansfield BID on behalf of the town centre businesses and supported by Mansfield District Council.
